Zoho announces their Trident UC platform
Trident, a new platform for collaboration, productivity and communication experiences, has been unveiled by Zoho Corporation. Trident provides users with a single platform and lessens tool ambiguity by bringing together mail, messaging, audio/video conversations, calendar, tasks, and more in one area. This is Zoho’s first email and chat native desktop software, and it seeks to make it simpler for businesses to interact across channels and increase overall digital adoption. Additionally, the platform offers tools for managing mobile devices, OTP-restricted emails and the AI-powered writing tool BluePencil, which offers grammatical suggestions.

Microsoft launches upgraded Bing with ChatGPT
Microsoft has released an updated version of its search engine Bing, which is driven by the same AI technology that powers the ChatGPT chatbot. Bing has released a set of AI-enhanced capabilities for its Edge browser, promising a fresh experience for web searches and information discovery. The enhanced search capabilities, according to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, are driven by the “Prometheus Model,” an improved version of GPT 3.5, with the promise that AI will offer information more rapidly and fluidly than previous techniques. The updated Bing software is currently available for desktop restricted preview, with a waitlist for future full access.

Verizon waives international call charges to Turkey
To assist customers in communicating with loved ones affected by the recent earthquake, Verizon is providing free international calls to Turkey. Verizon will also dismiss international roaming and data rates for users visiting Turkey between February 6th and February 12th. All calls to Turkey from Verizon consumer or corporate cellular phones will be charged at $0.00 per minute, and customers with international coverage plans can call without using any of their time-allotment limits. Prepaid and TracFone users calling Turkey will also be exempt from international long-distance rates.

Ofcom reviews the fairness of inflation-linked price rises
Ofcom is investigating whether inflation-linked mid-contract pricing increases for UK telecommunications consumers are reasonable. The UK regulator permits telecoms carriers to raise costs during the contract but is concerned that connecting these hikes to inflation rates makes it more difficult for customers to understand the pricing changes. In a January study of 3,500 mobile and fixed Internet users, Ofcom discovered that over a third were unaware that their provider may modify pricing during the contract period. Ofcom is also looking at the marketing of mid-contract price increases, and whether it is evident to clients from the start that costs may climb.
