In a groundbreaking collaboration, DISH Wireless, along with Samsung and Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., has achieved simultaneous 5G carrier aggregation (CA) milestones that promise faster speeds and enhanced connectivity for consumers. The accomplishment revolves around 5G 2x uplink and 4x downlink carrier aggregation (CA) for FDD spectrum, setting new benchmarks in the 5G arena.

DISH Wireless achieved remarkable results, showcasing its technological prowess. The 5G network realized peak speeds of 200 Mbps uplink with only 35 MHz of 5G spectrum, and an astonishing 1.3 Gbps downlink peak speeds with just 75 MHz of 5G spectrum. These achievements were made across FDD bands n71, n70, and n66, reinforcing DISH’s pioneering position in revolutionizing global communications with its Open RAN cloud-native 5G network.

As the demand for higher uplink capacity continues to surge, with applications such as video conferencing, social media posting, and video uploads on the rise, DISH, Samsung, and Qualcomm’s milestone offers an optimistic future for Boost Mobile and Boost Infinite subscribers. Soon, they can expect significantly faster download and upload speeds on “America’s Smart Network™.”

Eben Albertyn, EVP and CTO of DISH Wireless, stated, “By successfully delivering 5G 2x uplink and 4x downlink carrier aggregation for FDD spectrum, DISH is now poised to deliver a better customer experience across our 5G standalone network. We look forward to continuing to pave the way to fully harness the power of 5G.”

This impressive test was carried out in both DISH labs and the field using a mobile phone form-factor test device powered by Qualcomm Technologies’ Snapdragon® X75 5G Modem RF System and Samsung’s 5G vRAN solution. Dual- and tri-band radios were deployed across the DISH 5G network.

Mark Louison, executive vice president and general manager, Networks Business, Samsung Electronics America, expressed enthusiasm for this achievement and the prospect of delivering faster, lower-latency network capabilities to meet growing consumer demands.

Sunil Patil, vice president, Product Management, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., stressed the importance of carrier aggregation on FDD spectrum to meet the surging consumer demand for uplink-heavy applications and faster upload speeds across networks.

This collaborative effort signifies a major leap in the 5G landscape, bringing consumers one step closer to experiencing the full potential of 5G technology.
