The recent launch of Nokia’s 25G PON (Passive Optical Network) starter kit opens up exciting opportunities for Operators. Designed to maximize and extract value from 10Gbs+ deployments, the kit equips operators with the essential tools to speed up deployment of high-speed connectivity to multifarious businesses.

Nokia’s versatile kit allows connectivity for up to ten businesses, undoubtedly giving increase attention to 10Gbs business connectivity which is rapidly gaining traction in global markets. With this advancement, Nokia operates in unison with the shift towards the new golden standard of connectivity.

The 25G PON provides operators with a transformative mechanism to tap into their existing fiber assets. This bookends a novel method to deliver exceptional speeds to a range of enterprises, from schools to farms.

The contents of the 25G PON starter kit are commendably comprehensive and includes line cards, optics, Optical Network Terminals (ONTs), and all the fiber broadband technology needed to facilitate 1, 10 and 25G PON services to end-users.

As AI, virtual reality and resource-intensive cloud-based applications continue to ascend in popularity, having the capability to navigate these spaces with speed and efficiency becomes crucial.

Maintaining their commitment to further the cause of operators, Geert Heyninck, General Manager of Broadband Networks at Nokia, asserts the objective of the 25G PON starter program. He explains their motive is to amplify the opportunities perpetuated by 10G+ connectivity.

In addition, Rupert Wood, Research Director at Analysys Mason comments on the ability for operators with 25GS-PON capability to address the dedicated connectivity market based on the SLAs. His observations further underscore the opportunities created by blending 25GS-PON to XGS-PON, especially concerning revenue growth in symmetrical connectivity.

In parallel with Nokia’s innovation, UK altnet CityFibre is bringing its XGS-PON service to the market. Their launch of a 2.5 Gbps wholesale consumer broadband product will be followed by a strong push to enable XGS-PON at 90% of its fiber exchanges by year-end.

Stephen Kingdom, CTO of Xantaro, successes of PON technology, especially the advancements resulting from its utilization in FTTH. The advent of 25G-PON trials, promising higher speeds and more substantial capacity, indicate the promising future of broadband architecture.
