The cloud wifi platform provider, Plume, has unveiled a new agreement with the Indian telecommunications giant, Reliance Jio. The recent deal is aimed at extending smart home services to approximately 200 million properties. This partnership was declared at the Network X telecoms trade exhibition held in Paris, a milestone announcement for Plume.

Offering their expertise, JioFiber and JioAirFiber subscribers will have interactive access to the AI-powered services offered through Plume’s HomePass and WorkPass. These range from adaptive wifi to device and application performance optimization, added with protection against cyber threats for connected devices. Additional perks include advanced parental controls and wifi motion sensing.

Adrian Fitzgerald, the Chief Revenue Officer of Plume, added that, “The partnership…marks a significant global expansion of Plume’s services with a major telecoms force in Asia.” He talked about their capabilities in rendering a ‘tailored and highly scalable cloud-based solution’ for the bustling Indian market, showing an eagerness to assist Reliance Jio in broadening its service offerings.

Nevertheless, a partnership of this magnitude often brings challenges along with advantages. The vast scale of subscribers brings enormous potential for increased revenues and market penetration. However, it may also lead to considerable customer service and quality control issues, as all businesses expanding at such a scale are susceptible to these potential pitfalls.

Reinforcing the high expectations associated with the venture, Mathew Oommen, the President of Reliance Jio stated, “As we continue to expand our portfolio of connected home services, it is critical…Jio provide…the most advanced and secure in-home digital services, delivering the best end-to-end customer experience.”

In parallel with the partnership announcement, Plume revealed new features for its HomePass app. The ‘App Priority’ feature allows users to increase the priority level for certain applications or devices. Enhancing the wifi experience and offering additional benefits for subscribers are part of Plume’s principal approach within the telecom industry. As the broadband theme was predominant at Network X, Plume stood out amongst the exhibitors with its commitment to innovatively improving the subscriber’s wifi experiences.
